The workflow
Create your event
- Set event name, date, venue, and timezone
- Upload a cover image
- Add ticket types with prices, quantities, and sale windows
- Configure max entries, badge colors, and access zones per ticket type
- Keep it in draft until you're ready to go live
Sell tickets
- Tickets are sold through your WordPress site via the bridge plugin
- Customers check out using WooCommerce and pay via Netopia
- On payment confirmation, EventGate issues tickets automatically
- Each ticket gets a unique QR code and a public view URL
- Customers receive a confirmation email with their ticket links
Run the event
- Assign scanner roles to staff — they log in on their phones
- Scanners open the scanner view in any mobile browser
- Scan QR codes with the phone camera
- Green = valid, Red = invalid / already used, Amber = partial
- Admin dashboard shows live check-in stats as people enter
Key capabilities
Idempotent ticket issuance
If a payment webhook is received twice, EventGate processes it once. No duplicate tickets, ever.
Multi-entry tickets
Configure tickets for re-entry events. The system tracks entries used vs allowed and shows the correct scan result.
Serial numbered tickets
Each ticket type has its own prefix and counter. Ticket codes like VIP-00042-X9K3R are human-readable and unique.
Cryptographic QR tokens
QR payloads are random hex tokens — not ticket IDs. The token-to-ticket mapping is server-side and cannot be guessed.
Offline-safe scanner
The scanner interface is a self-contained HTML page. It works in any mobile browser without requiring app installation.
Scanner-to-dashboard SSE
Every scan pushes a real-time event to the admin dashboard via Server-Sent Events. No polling, no page refresh.
Role-based access
Super admins, event managers, and scanners each have scoped access. Scanners see only their assigned events.
Complete audit trail
Every scan is logged with scanner identity, timestamp, device info, and IP. Disputes are fully traceable.
CSV export
Download full attendee lists, ticket details, and check-in logs. CSV exports open directly in Excel.
